Justice and Peace Commission, Mumbai, is a consultative body of the Archdiocese of Bombay. Its aim is to inspire and motivate the Church in Mumbai to involve itself in problems of social concern — justice, peace and development — which form a constituent part of the mission of the Church. In its endeavour to animate the Catholic community on social justice issues, the Commission networks and collaborates with other bodies and organisations that work to uphold the dignity and rights of the human person and to promote the common good. Justice and Peace Commission, Mumbai is registered as Centre for Peace Trust [registration no. E 21447 (Mumbai)] under The Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. The Commission executes its objectives through the offices of the Documentation, Research and Training Centre. Latest News- DRTC has a new director. FR LANCY PINTO, FCCO Co-ordinator, took charge of DRTC on June 1. Former director Fr Allwyn D’Silva continues as Chairperson of JPC. - JUSTICE SUNDAY will be celebrated by the Church in India on 21st August 2011. The theme is Globalization and Justice in India. JPC is holding a panel discussion on the theme on 6 August 2011, 5-7 pm, at St. Pius College, Goregaon East. The panellists are Mr Josantony Joseph, Fr Keith D’Souza and Fr Stephen Fernandes. - On the occasion of PRISON MINISTRY SUNDAY which will be celebrated on 14 August 2011, a get-together for all Mumbai volunteers will be held 20th August, from 6 to 8 pm at St. John the Baptist Church Pavilion, Thane. Bishop Bosco Penha has kindly consented to be the chief guest. - FCCO will have a two-day training programme for CCO staff in Hindi/English, 9.30 am to 4 pm, 25 & 26 August,2011 at Salvation Seva Kendra Hall, Salvation Church, Dadar. The topic is Motivation and Vision of the CCO. Registration fee: Rs.50 per person; maximum three persons per centre. - FCCO will be holding the bi-yearly meeting of managers, directors and assistant directors of community centres on 15th September 2011, 9.30 am to 1 pm, at Salvation Seva Kendra, Dadar.
